Community Class Description and Schedule

Community Art Classes at VSAI offer individuals with and without disabilities the opportunity for personal exploration in the arts as well as interaction with others in an inclusive, adaptive studio setting. There are currently seven classes being offered each week.

Our programs are designed to support the creative expression of individuals with all abilities. Philosophically and where possible, VSAI tries to provide opportunities for everyone to engage in the arts, which is why Community Art Classes are open to people of all ages and all ability levels. Our primary focus, however, is to serve as a creative impetus in the lives of people with disabilities.

Classes last for eight-weeks with one two-hour class per week. Students rotate every 40 minutes through studio classes in Ceramics, Painting/Drawing, and Music or Drama (drama Monday only). Classes are taught by trained VSAI Teaching Artists who nurture each participant’s individual capabilities, creative vision, and technical mastery while promoting group interaction and participation.

(Current classes are full. If you are not currently in a class, please pre register for the next open session of classes, which begin in January 2009.)

NEW: VSAI children's art classes at TherAplay, 9199 Towne Rd., Carmel. Spring classes will be held on Tuesdays starting in April of 2008. To register, please contact TherAplay. TherAplay may be reached at 872-4166 and is located just north of 96th Street on the east side of Towne Road. Look for the white sign that says "Lucky Farms - Home of TherAplay."

Tuition

Tuition for students with disabilities is $15 for the 8-week session at VSAI. (Tuition for classes at Theraplay is $25 for the 8-week session, for all students of all abilities.)

All other students' tuition for classes at VSAI is determined by the following sliding scale. First, find the column that matches your family size, then follow it down to the HIGHEST household income level that is NOT ABOVE your family income, then follow that row to the right to determine the 8-week cost per person. (Example: A family of 4 with family income of $48,000 pays $22 per person without a disability for the 8-week session.)

Make checks payable to VSA and bring to 1st class.
